Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association (MOSA) will be inducting four new members into the MOSA Hall of Fame this Thursday, with an induction ceremony for its 2024 class set to take place at the Colts Neck Inn in Colts Neck, N.J. The 2024 inductees include Jenifer Anzivino, Jim Barlow, Teddy Kottakhs and Denise Reddy.
Jenifer Anzivino is currently a girls coach at Cedar Star Academy Monmouth. She is a former coach at Wagner College, where she also volunteered as part of a “Coaching Across Continents” mission in South Africa. During her playing career, Anzivino competed at Rutgers University for four years, becoming an All-American defender in 2010 in addition to being named a two-time 1st Team Big East selection. At the high school level, Anzivino remains Middletown North’s Girls Soccer all-time leading goal scorer with 103 career goals, and she is considered one of the greatest players in Shore Conference history. As a youth player, she grew up competing for Middletown Soccer Club.
Jim Barlow is the current head coach of the Princeton University Men’s Soccer Program, where he is the winningest men’s soccer coach in school history. He also played college soccer at Princeton, graduating in 1991 with a degree in history. During his collegiate days, Barlow was named the 1990 Ivy League Player of the Year, becoming the first Tigers athlete to win the conference’s top soccer honor. Raised in Hightstown, Barlow was a star player at Hightstown High School. He was named the 1986 Player of the Year by the New Jersey Soccer Coaches Association, and he was also chosen as part of the Parade All-America Team in 1987. Barlow grew up playing as a member of the East Windsor PAL Soccer Club.
Teddy Kottakhs is the current Referee Assignor for East Windsor PAL. He continues to be active at the youth level and has been coaching in the East Windsor PAL for 25 years. He has also officiated and assigned referees for the amateur leagues, in addition to MOSA in East Windsor and the Mercer County Area, over that same timespan. Further, he spends several weeks each winter officiating matches in the Florida. Kottakhs first arrived in the United States in 1970 and married a year later. By 1971, he was playing for one of New Jersey’s most respected sides in the Mercer County-based German American Kickers of Hamilton. He later became an United States Soccer Federation (USSF) referee in 1980.
Denise Reddy is the current Assistant Head Coach of the US Women’s National Team, where she helped head coach Emma Hayes lead the team to Olympic Gold this past summer in Paris. Reddy previously served as the head coach for Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) after working as an assistant coach to Jim Gabarra at Washington Spirit. Prior to coaching in the NWSL, she was the head coach of Linköpings FC and Vittsjö GIK in Sweden, B.93/HIK/Skjold in Denmark and Jersey Sky Blue of the USL W-League. Reddy enjoyed an 11-year professional playing career in Sweden after a successful collegiate campaign at Rutgers University. As a youth player, Reddy grew up competing for Hazlet Soccer Club.
“This year’s Hall of Fame inductees demonstrate how far soccer careers can progress after getting started with MOSA,” remarked Eric Offenberg, 1st Vice President of MOSA. “These former MOSA players are role models who our players can look up to and see what they can achieve after starting and competing at the grassroots level of soccer in Central New Jersey.”
Evan Dabby, who is the Chief Executive Officer of New Jersey Youth Soccer, shared similar sentiments.
“It truly remarkable to watch these individuals continue to operate at the top of their game,” said Dabby. “MOSA does not just produce top soccer players, they also produce top soccer coaches and officials as well.”
The 2024 MOSA Hall of Fame class joins a prestigious group of previous inductees, and MOSA plans to continue this tradition for many years to come. Full biographies of players and volunteers can be found at mosa.gotsportsites.com.
