After a thrilling final at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas, the Deptford SA Premier 17U Boys have come home to New Jersey as US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup Champions.
Deptford SA Premier played SAC Boys 2007 Premier Blue (MD) to a scoreless draw after 90 minutes of regulation in the 17U Boys Final on Tuesday, forcing a penalty shootout to determine which team would be crowned the national titleholder for their age group in the USYS Presidents Cup. The first five kicks would still not be enough to decide a victor, and the shootout quickly extended into deep waters. After finally scoring the winning goal in the 14th round of penalties, the Deptford SA Premier players, coaches and families erupted into celebration after realizing their ultimate goal of claiming a National Presidents Cup Championship.
The win for Deptford SA Premier was their fifth consecutive victory at the USYS National Presidents Cup. Throughout the tournament, they outscored their opposition by a tally of 16-2 over the five-game winning streak, first claiming the top spot in their group before defeating Georgia Athletic Soccer Club B17U (GA) in the semifinals on Monday, 3-1. The victory over SAC Boys 2007 Premier Blue (MD) on Tuesday officially capped off their perfect run at the USYS National Presidents Cup.
