2022-2023 State Cups


The NJ Youth Soccer State Cups Presented by Players Health provides pathways to be crowned champions of the state, region, and nation. With the National Championship Series, Presidents Cup, and Challenge Cup tournaments, every participating team has the ability to vie for the title of "State Champion.” Check out the information below to begin your journey.

New Jersey Youth Soccer 2022-2023 State Cups competition is hosting the Fall 2022 State Cups, which includes the National Championship Series, Presidents Cup and Challenge Cup.  The competition features 11U-14U teams competing in single elimination format this fall. 

State Cup Notices and Updates

SUNDAY FINALS UPDATE (11/19 AT 8:30) PM)

Given the forecasted temperatures in the morning on Sunday, NJYS is making the following adjustments for final schedule for MARLBORO MIDDLE SCHOOL:

  • 8:45am kick times will be pushed to 9:00am 
  • 8:30am kick times will be pushed to 8:45am
  • Field 7 has been moved to Field 6
  • Field 6A has been moved to Field 7A
  • Field 6B has been moved to Field 7B

SEMIFINALS AND FINALS UPDATE (11/16 AT 2:30) PM)
The NJ Youth Soccer Fall 2022 State Cups (11U-14U) preliminary rounds are complete. The semifinals and finals are scheduled at a neutral site managed by NJ Youth Soccer on Saturday, November 19th and Sunday, November 20th respectively.  NJYS has assigned referees to these matches, with teams still responsible for the splitting the referee fees during the semifinal game.

12U-14U teams that have advanced the semifinals in the National Championship Series and Presidents Cup competitions shall complete the 'Commitment to Travel and Participate for USYS Events' form and return it to [email protected], no later than November 19th, 2022.

National Championship Series 11U -19U/20U


The National Championship Series is the country’s most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing winners from each state the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and fair play.  The winner of the NJYS State Cup U12 teams and above will advance to the 2022 US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships. 

The competition is a single elimination format:

Fall 2022

  • Fees: 11U-12U (9v9)^ - $240 per team*
  • Fees: 13U-14U (11v11) - $240 per team*

Spring 2023

  • Fees: 15U-17U (11v11) - Registration available Winter 2023.
  • Fees: 18U-19U (11v11)- Registration available Winter 2023.


 Registration is now closed for the Fall 2022 competitions.

This competition is recommended for teams participating in the USYS National League  P.R.O. and National League Conferences (Premier I & II). Note: Teams must participate in the age group in which they participate in their NJYS member league.

*Teams that submit an application after the registration deadline are not guaranteed acceptance and may be subject to late fees.
^Teams entering the 9v9 age groups must play in an approved 9v9 league.

Presidents Cup 11U - 18U/19U


The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup provides additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a national title. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.  The winner of the NJYS Presidents Cup NJYS State Cup U12 teams and above will advance to the 2022 US Youth Soccer East Region Presidents Cup.

The competition is a single elimination format:

Fall 2022

  • Fees: 11U-12U (9v9)^ - $240 per team*
  • Fees: 13U-14U (11v11) - $240 per team*

Spring 2023

  • Fees: 15U-17U (11v11) - Registration available Winter 2023
  • Fees: 18U-19U (11v11)- Registration available Winter 2023

This competition is recommended for teams participating in EDP Premier III, IV, or V. Note: Teams must participate in the age group in which they participate in their NJYS member league.

^Teams entering the 9v9 age groups must play in an approved 9v9 league.

Challenge Cup 11U-18U/19U


The Challenge Cup is the NJYS Cup that attracts the most teams and provides a third tier state competition.  This tournament hosts travel teams in the U11 to U19 age groups.  This state-only tournament is designed to create a challenging and enjoyable event for teams that do not play in the National Championship Series or Presidents Cup.

The competition is a single elimination format:

Fall 2022

  • Fees: 11U-12U (9v9)^ - $190 per team*
  • Fees: 13U-14U (11v11) - $190 per team*

Spring 2023

  • Fees: 15U-17U (11v11) - Registration available Winter 2023
  • Fees: 18U/19U (11v11)- Registration available Winter 2023

This competition is recommended for teams participating in CJYSA-EDP Premier VI-XI, MCYSA, Metro, MNJYSA, and MOSA. Note: Teams must participate in the age group in which they participate in their NJYS member league.

^Teams entering the 9v9 age groups must play in an approved 9v9 league.

Registration Dates (11U-14U): Registration closed on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022. Teams submitting an application after this deadline are not guaranteed acceptance and may be subject to late fees.

Venues: NJYS will host the semifinals and finals at a neutral site. Teams will be receive home and away designations for Rounds of 64, 32, 16, and quarterfinals, where the home team is responsible for securing a venue and referees. 

Flighting Appeal:  The appeals process to compete in a different State Cup competition than flighted (e.g. Challenge Cup, Presidents Cup, or NCS) for the Fall 2022 competitions is complete for the Fall 2022 season.
