NJ Youth Soccer Hosts 2021 Annual General Meeting at Red Bull Arena

Audi Served as Presenting Sponsor of the Annual Event

This past Saturday at Red Bull Arena, New Jersey Youth Soccer held its 2021 Annual General Meeting Presented by Audi. NJ Youth Soccer hosted its member leagues, member clubs, partners and key decision makers at the event. Attended by more than 100 participants, the NJYS Annual General Meeting Presented by Audi serves as the annual gathering of NJYS membership to receive program updates and hear from candidates who are running for positions with its Board of Directors.

“The AGM is the most important meeting we hold each year,” said Jess Yeager, NJYS President. “We want to show our members what we have done in the past year to support them. We also want to take the opportunity to talk about what we are going to be doing next year as we continue to grow and improve. My challenges for the next year are to continue to grow the numbers in the youngest age groups, to assist the State Referee Committee with increasing the quantity and quality of the referees in New Jersey and to focus on improving sideline behavior for our players.”

During the meeting, elections were held in accordance with the NJYS Bylaws for open positions on the Board of Directors (Executive Committee and Members At Large). Specifically, NJ Youth Soccer and its members voted on a 1st Vice President, 3rd Vice President, Treasurer and three Members-At-Large. These elected members were approved by the NJYS Bylaws and Constitution amendments, and each representative has been submitted to and reviewed by the Nominating Committee.

Following are the results of the election during the 2021 Annual General Meeting:

Executive Committee

  • Wayne Cordiner, 1st Vice President
  • Nelson Ramirez, 3rd Vice President
  • Don Kameno, Treasurer

Members At Large

  • Eric Offenberg – Monroe Township Soccer Club
  • Rico Scardelletti – Lawrence Hamnett Soccer Association
  • Anthony Sciorilli – Wall Soccer Club

In addition to the election of officers to the NJYS Executive Committee, discussion and reports were presented about the future of NJ Youth Soccer. A summary of annual reports from the previous year were showcased along with a forward-looking presentation that focused on the mission and vision of the state association.

Jess Yeager, NJYS President, spoke to attendees about the progress of the state association, along with providing some background on the goals he seeks to achieve during his presidency. Evan Dabby, NJYS Executive Director, provided his annual report with a focus on “building a soccer community” for the sport after COVID-19 setbacks. He stressed the need to continue working with the Board of Directors as well as the clubs to grow the game for all stakeholders in youth soccer. Additional presentations were also made to showcase programs and initiatives that NJ Youth Soccer will soon announce publicly. One of those highlights included Ashley Hammond of the US Soccer Disability Committee educating members about the initiatives geared to players with different abilities through the #ADAPTandTHRIVE campaign.

At the conclusion of the 2021 NJYS Annual General Meeting Presented by Audi, NJYS President Jess Yeager and NJYS 1st Vice President Wayne Cordiner acknowledged NJYS Past-President Evelyn Gill for her dedication to the grassroots level of the game. Gill has been instrumental to youth soccer on so many levels throughout her career, and she was honored with a signed jersey for her commitment and service.

NJ Youth Soccer would like to extend its thanks to all of the partners and sponsors who contributed to the success of this event. Among them are Audi, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Arena, Gotham FC, RWJBarnabas Health, ÉPICO Studios, JAG-ONE Physical Therapy, Kwik Goal, Soccer Parenting and US Youth Soccer.

As showcased at the 2021 NJYS Annual General Meeting Presented by Audi, NJ Youth Soccer has and always will be committed to fostering the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of New Jersey’s youth through the sport of soccer. In addition, NJ Youth Soccer will continue to seek new opportunities to foster the best environment to promote the game of soccer throughout the state.
