New Jersey Youth Soccer announced today that it has accepted the 3M Soccer League as an Official League Member. 3M Soccer League is a soccer program for teenage boys and girls primarily in Monmouth, Middlesex and Mercer Counties, presenting NJYS teams with an opportunity to join an established league in Central New Jersey.
The 3M Soccer League was founded in 2002 when East Brunswick Soccer Club and many other clubs saw a diminishing participation from recreational soccer players in the older ranks. During the first two seasons of the league, East Brunswick Soccer Club and East Windsor Soccer Club only had two boys teams that were created from a combination of U13-U18 players. As the years progressed, the league has expanded dramatically to currently include a combined 35 boys and girls teams in nine different towns. Further, the expanded growth has led to the formation of Junior (U13-15) and Senior Divisions. Overall, the 3M Soccer League now gives more than 600 players the opportunity to play through their senior year of high school.
“We are excited to partner with NJ Youth Soccer and leverage their resources to help our league grow,” said Marc Josephson, 3M Co-Chair. “As an example, NJ Youth Soccer will sponsor a Y Course for coaches in our league. Designed as a safety orientation for coaches of youth players participating within in-house settings, the three-hour Y-Course explores injury prevention, first aid procedures and general coaching concepts for building safe, fun, inclusive, nurturing and challenging environments.”
A list of the current clubs with teams in the 3M Soccer League includes Monroe Township Soccer, East Windsor Recreational Soccer, Old Bridge Soccer Club, East Brunswick Soccer Club, Manalapan Soccer Club, Marlboro Soccer Association, Freehold Soccer League, New Egypt Youth Soccer, West Windsor Plainsboro Soccer Association and Old Bridge Girls Soccer.
“New Jersey Youth Soccer is proud to support the 3M Soccer League in its efforts to provide an opportunity to high school age players,” said Jess Yeager, NJYS President. “We know these are age groups where too many players drop out of the game, and we applaud 3M for its efforts to reverse that trend. We want to recognize the value that 3M brings to the soccer community and encourage others to join with them.”
Currently, 3M Soccer League is looking for volunteers to continue the success of the league. To learn more, please contact Marc Josephson ([email protected]) or visit the 3M Website.
