MOSA Inducting Four Members into its 2022 Hall of Fame Class

Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association (MOSA) will be inducting two MOSA players and two MOSA volunteers into its 2022 Hall of Fame Class, with the induction ceremony set to take place on Thursday, January 19th, at the Colts Neck Inn in Colts Neck, N.J.

The 2022 player inductees include:

  • Nick LaBrocca – Former professional player with the Colorado Rapids, Toronto FC, Chivas USA and Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer (MLS). Nick was a four-year player at Rutgers University, where he was a three-time All Big East selection. He is also a former MOSA youth player with both the Howell and Jackson Soccer Clubs.
  • Brianne Reed – Current professional soccer player overseas and a member of the Dominican Republic Women’s National Team. She played four seasons at Rutgers University, helping them to the school’s first NCAA College Cup in 2015 while also receiving All-America honors. She played domestically for FC Kansas City of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and then internationally for several teams in Sweden and Denmark. Brianne is former MOSA player with the Ocean and Peninsula Soccer Clubs.

“There are thousands of children who have played soccer in MOSA over the past half century,” remarked Eric Offenberg, 1st Vice President of MOSA. “We are thrilled that Nick and Brianne have made it to the highest levels of soccer after getting their starts playing in MOSA. These players are role models that our players can look up to and see what they can achieve after starting and competing at the grassroots level of soccer in Central New Jersey.”

“Soccer players continue to develop in New Jersey into top national and international players,” stated Evan Dabby, Executive Director of New Jersey Youth Soccer. “It has been a thrill to watch Nick and Brianne compete and know that current youth players throughout the state are trying to emulate their accomplishments.”

In addition to the player inductees, two volunteers are being inducted to the MOSA Hall of Fame as well.

  • Al Grupper– Al currently serves on the MOSA Executive Board and has been a Board Member for 10+ years, serving in multiple positions. Al was President of the East Windsor PAL Travel Soccer Club from 1982-2018 and still serves as EW PAL Board oversight. Al has also spent time as a coach, referee and referee assignor, and he was even a referee for the USA Special Olympics Games in 2014.
  • Richard “Dick” Shaw (Posthumous Induction) – Dick Shaw served as MOSA President from 1987-1991. Prior to becoming President, Dick was VP of MOSA from 1983-1987. He had previously been a coach, VP and MOSA rep for the Point Pleasant Soccer Club.

“Al continues to volunteer countless hours, dedicating himself to the growth of youth soccer, and remains a stalwart on the MOSA Board,” observed Offenberg. “His decades of devotion to growing the beautiful game deserves to be commended.”

The MOSA Hall of Fame will continue to install new inductees for years to come. Full biographies of players and volunteers can be found at mosa.gotsport.com
