New Jersey Youth Soccer, Perth Amboy Soccer Club and the Perth Amboy Recreation Department recently collaborated to host a United Cup 4v4 Festival at Rudyk Park. The event was organized as a way to get kids out and playing soccer with ‘no scores, no referees, just fun.’

“Engaging, spontaneous and free flowing are the best words to describe the experience all the participants had at the recent NJYS and Perth Amboy SC 4v4 United Soccer Cup,” said Rick Meana, NJYS Director of Coaching.

As an NJYS member club, Perth Amboy Soccer Club is committed to finding new ways to provide youth players with opportunities to develop as athletes and individuals by running additional training programs, tournaments and special events throughout the year.

“The cost of youth sports has significantly increased in recent years, which has disproportionately affected youth from urban cities,” said Sam Miranda, Perth Amboy Recreation Supervisor. “The opportunities provided by NJYS and USYS, such as the 4v4 United Cup Soccer Festival, allows for urban youth to participate in soccer without the concern of cost. Perth Amboy soccer enthusiasts enjoyed a fun-filled day of activities which has, in turn, propelled registration for the upcoming recreation soccer season. The City of Perth Amboy is excited to continue partnering with NJYS on future initiatives.”

After committing to the NJYS Innovate to Grow Initiative, Perth Amboy Soccer Club has expanded the development of its recreation and travel programs. Additionally, the club has adopted and implemented the player development model proposed by US Soccer, which includes appropriate playing formats at all ages and levels.

With the help of NJ Youth Soccer and Innovate to Grow, Perth Amboy Soccer Club will continue to focus on both player and coaching development initiatives to provide the most competitive environment possible. As they aim to increase local and regional visibility, the club also hopes to expand their offerings of tournaments and events in the region.
