NJ Teams and Referees Ready for USYS National Championships

EAST WINDSOR, NEW JERSEY (July 13, 2022)- The US Youth Soccer National Championships kicks off on Tuesday, July 19th, in Orlando, Florida, where 15 New Jersey teams will fight for a national title. The National Championships comes on the heels of a successful Eastern Regional Championship tournament for two New Jersey teams and a successful National League P.R.O. season for thirteen New Jersey teams.

Last month, teams competed for a chance to secure a spot at the 2022 US Youth Soccer National Championships in the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships, where 13U boys Cedar Stars Academy Bergen and 16U boys NJ Premier were crowned Eastern Regional Champions. Earlier this year, National League P.R.O. teams competed in a group play format to punch their ticket to Florida.

“The National Championship is the most prestigious youth soccer competition in the nation,” said Ryan Foley, NJYS Manager, Communications & Strategy. “We hope our teams can savor this moment, and wish them the best of luck in the competition.”

The National Championships are the final stage of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series which also provides collegiate, pro, and international coaches with the ability to identify and scout players. The event is a culmination of a year-long series of competitions at the state and regional levels known as the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series which provides approximately 185,000 players on 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 54 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation.

Teams are set to compete at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, which offers 17 fields with the backdrop of Walt Disney World. Group play competition will begin following Monday’s team luncheon that recognizes all players and coaches in attendance featuring the infamous US Youth Soccer National Championship Trophies, the ‘heirlooms of our sport.’
