ODP Player Caroline Neal Participates in USYNT ID Center

Austin Lloyd, NJ Youth Soccer

NJ Youth Soccer is proud to recognize New Jersey native Caroline Neal for her involvement in the US Youth Soccer’s recent Girls Youth National Team (USYNT) Identification Center in Orangeburg, New York. Neal is a member of the Medford Strikers Impact 2007 and is also a participant in New Jersey ODP.

The USYNT Identification Centers are one of the main sources of talent identification for US Soccer. These invite-only training sessions provide opportunities for scout development, education and mentoring while helping to strengthen connection and collaboration between US Soccer, its clubs and their constituents in local markets. US Soccer Talent Identification Managers lead USYNT ID Centers to identify and compare the top talent for USYNT selection and monitoring for players aged 13-16 in different regions across the country.

“It feels really special because it has been a dream since I was little to play for the US Women’s National Team,” said Neal. “This feels like a really big step towards achieving that dream!”

Neal
began playing for New Jersey ODP in 2019-2020 and quickly proved she belonged when she was selected to attend the ODP East Region Camp. The following year, she continued her rapid development and was invited to join the ODP East Region Team while also being invited to the ODP National Training Camp this past January.

“By participating in ODP, I have been exposed to players from all over the country, which really shows me where my talent level sits,” explained Neal. “During those events in Orlando and Tampa, I was challenged physically and mentally, and it has shown me how much I desire to take my game to the highest level I can. Most importantly, I was identified through the ODP program for the YNT ID Center. ODP gives me a greater opportunity to get in front of scouts on both a collegiate level  and nationally with US Soccer.”

Neal prides herself on getting to practice early and putting in the extra work outside of training to continue her development. When asked to offer advice to other players, she stated, “Keep building the craft and developing the tools that it takes to be at the highest level. Do not worry so much about what league you are playing in or the wins and losses when you are young. Keep having fun and building friendships while you learn and stay focused!”

Neal will play her first year of high school soccer this upcoming fall at Cherokee High School in Marlton. She hopes to make it back to the highest level within ODP this season and will continue to focus on building the tools to lead her to her goals while playing on the Medford Strikers Academy team.
