MARLBORO, NJ (November 12, 2021) - The MOSA Curci Cup finals will take place this Saturday for the 9U-14U age groups. The competition is open exclusively for teams that play in the Monmouth-Ocean Soccer Association (MOSA).

Uniquely, this competition places teams in the top flight of an age group against teams in the lower flight of the age group above it.  As displayed by its title, MOSA is a soccer association with teams that compete in the Monmouth and Ocean Counties of New Jersey. MOSA is a member of New Jersey Youth Soccer, and the league conducts operations in line with NJYS policies. Since 2019, the MOSA Cup Series was named in tribute of long-time MOSA President and NJYS Treasurer Ben Curci to honor his legacy.

Take a look at the final matchups for the MOSA Curci Cup…

13UB (2009) – OLD BRIDGE BULLDOGS VS. MANALAPAN UNITED 09B
Manalapan (National 2) comes into finals after upsetting the current National 2 division leader East Windsor in a 13-goal thriller and then topping the National 1 entrant Mercer United in the semis.  The quest to win it all will be much more difficult against a tough Old Bridge team currently sitting in 2nd place in the Premier flight.

13UG (2009) – WALL SOCCER STARS VS. BERKELEY STARS
Berkeley (National 1) is looking to shake up another Premier team in Wall in the U13G Finals.  Berkeley got by a stubborn Rumson team in the semis, a team that Wall tied this 2 weeks ago in their regular Premier division game.  This is shaping up to be an epic match.

14UG (2008) – MONROE WILDCATS VS. HIBERNIAN BARBARIANS
This is a battle of the Premier 1 leaders this season.  In their first match, Hibernian edged Monroe 3-1 but that was home for Hibernian.  With a neutral field, the Wildcats are looking to bring home the first MOSA Curci Cup to Monroe in over 5 years.  This game also serves as the second league match this season for these teams, so these girls are putting it all on the line in Malboro.  This is a must watch game!

“The success of our team can be attributed to the hard work of the players as well as the healthy team culture among the players and Monroe families who support each other on and off the field, said” Kevin Fernandes, Head Coach of the Monroe Wildcats.

14UB (2008) – LAKEWOOD GALAXY VS. NEPTUNE LIGHTINING
This is the battle of the undefeated.  Lakewood has been dominating the Premier flight with only 3 goals allowed this season.  Neptune has not been much kinder to their National 1 opponents, putting up a staggering 35 goals this season.  Something has got to give in this this one!

11UG (2011) – TWIN COUNTY CELTIC VS. MARLBORO SPARKS BLUE
Twin County (National 1) takes on a tough Marlboro team (National 2) that is destined to be promoted next season.  Marlboro shocked the lone Premier entrant Wall in the semifinals and is the lone to team to have “home field” advantage.  Twin County won’t let that stop their dreams of hoisting the Cup.

12UG (2010) – RUMSON TOP DAWGS VS. TOMS RIVER UNITED
Toms River was a last-minute qualifier to the event with a tight 1-0 win over Beachwood this week.  Toms River is the Premier flight entrant in this division taking on an undefeated Rumson team from National 2.  Does Rumson have what it takes to knock off Toms River for the Cup and keep a spotless record?

11UB (2011) – MERCER UNITED MAVERICKS VS. OCEAN TOWNSHIP STRIKERS RED
Ocean comes into the finals sitting in 3rd place in the Premier flight.  Mercer United sits atop National  1 looking for promotion next season.  Mercer United took down a Premier team in Point Pleasant in the semis and has their sites on dethroning a 2nd Premier team on way to the top prize.  Ocean has put up 33 goals this season, including 14 throughout their run to the finals.  This game looks like a good one.

12UB (2010) – OSBL BULLDOGS VS. RUMSON DYNAMIC DOGS
Rumson comes into the game sitting atop the Premier flight and is clearly the one to beat.  Old Bridge only has 1 loss in National 2 this season but have already upset National 1 teams en-route to the finals.  This is your David v Goliath game of the Tournament!

9UB (2013) – MERCER UNITED VS. FREEHOLD FLAMES
The top 2 teams in Premier 1 meet in this MOSA Cup Final.   Freehold has blanked Mercer in their first 2 meetings this season, but as we as have seen in the past, anything can happen when the MOSA Cup is on the line.

10UB (2012) – FREEHOLD FALCONS VS. MIDDLETOWN EXPLOSION RED
This is the battle of the top 2 teams in the Premier flight.  Each team has won their respective game on their home field.  The MOSA Cup final will be on neutral ground where anything can happen.  This is the game most likely to end in PKs!

10UG (2012) – HIBERNIAN HERRICANES VS. OCEAN SURGE RED
2 of the top 3 teams in the MOSA Premier flight face off in this final.   Ocean has yet to taste defeat this season, including 2 wins over the Herricanes and overall, only letting 5 goals in all season.  This will be the Herricane’s final chance to chalk up a W vs a tough Ocean team.

9UG (2013) – GAK EAGLES VS. OLD BRIDGE GIRLS SOCCER STORM WHITE
GAK’s only entrant in the MOSA Cup Finals sits atop the Premier flight in the U9G division with only 1 loss currently.  Old Bridge is destroying the competition in National 1 with 42 goals for and only 1 against!  This soon to be Premier flighted Old Bridge team is going to face the ultimate test of how good they really are.  This is a game not to miss.
