Branchburg In-Town Soccer Club Adds NJYS TOPSoccer Program

New Jersey Youth Soccer is proud to announce that Branchburg In-Town Soccer Club (BITSC) has been added as an official NJYS TOPSoccer Program. Through this extension of its programming, BITSC is now able to offer all-inclusive soccer training to its community.

“A true recreational program is not complete until every single child in your community has the opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer,” said Heather Grande, VP of Branchburg In-Town Soccer Club. “TOPSoccer helps you provide this in a safe and exciting way for all involved and can be easily integrated into any club, as all you need is a group of passionate and dedicated volunteers to organize.”

BITSC focuses on creating a community program that provides all children with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sportsmanship, friendship, community and soccer. Through the years, the club has consistently provided opportunities for special needs children who showed an interest in the game. As a result, BITSC quickly realized a program geared towards the special needs population would create the most well-rounded experience possible. This is why the addition of a TOPSoccer Program for BITSC is not only a perfect fit for the club, but also for their community.

“The TOPSoccer Program is an amazing experience for the players, volunteers and the fans on the sidelines,” explained Grande. “It is an example of how we have many more things in common than perhaps perceived. The smiles are my favorite memory as a part of TOPSoccer.”

TOPSoccer will allow BITSC to become a more accessible club for families in the community. With most special needs programs, families are often forced to choose which siblings are able to play the game. However, with the BITSC model, families will get an all-inclusive experience that allows the entire family to participate in the sport.

“TOPSoccer is a community-based program designed to facilitate fun and inclusive soccer-playing opportunities for children with special needs,” said Lou Mignone, NJYS Director of TOPSoccer. “The program is uniquely and individually adapted to address the appropriate level of challenge for each player, and the coaching education curriculum prepares coaches and buddies to engage players through creating safe, enjoyable and stimulating environments for experimental learning. TOPSoccer is designed by U.S. Youth Soccer and emphasizes player-specific development, training, collaboration with others and meaningful participation rather team competition and match results.”

The training and player registration for NJYS TOPSoccer is fully subsidized through the generous support of RWJBarnabas Health.
