Preliminary Games Continue for NJ Teams at USYS National Championships

BRADENTON-SARASOTA, Florida (July 21, 2021) - The second day of preliminary matches concluded for the 4 NJ teams competing in the US Youth Soccer National Championships at the Premiere Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Teams from all over the nation took the field with a goal of taking the next step toward claiming the coveted US Youth Soccer National Championship in their respective age group.

New Jersey teams shined on the second day of group play as they finished with an overall 3-0-1 record!  

Their work is not done yet as there is still lots of unfinished business at US Youth Soccer’s most prestigious youth soccer tournament. All four New Jersey teams still have their eyes are on a national championship.

With the teams having completed their second of three group stage games, the stage is set for critical games on Thursday, when teams play their final group stage games to solidify their destiny in the group standings.

Let’s look at highlights from Day 2 of the US Youth Soccer National Championships:

14UG: Wayne SC Dynamite Academy

After a tough loss yesterday in the opening day of group play, Wayne SC Dynamite Academy fought back and came out strong, scoring first in Wednesday’s contest against Wake FC of North Carolina. The 14U New Jersey girls team continued their stingy play and shut the door, claiming a 1-0 lead at halftime. Wayne SC Dynamite Academy protected their first half goal when play resumed to achieve an eventual 1-0 win. Wayne SC Dynamite Academy now has a chance to advance to the single elimination round, as they are currently tied for second in Group B. Their next match will be another must-win contest. But with today's big win already in the bag, Wayne SC Dynamite Academy will be up for the task.

15UB: Real Jersey FC

The 15U Boys Real Jersey FC fell behind early in the second group play game as Union Black of Michigan led 1-0 at the break. However, Real Jersey FC made some halftime adjustments and continued to fight. Real Jersey FC 15U Boys were eventually able to score an equalizer to bring the game even, 1-1. As the minutes wound down, Real Jersey FC added more and more pressure, searching for the winning goal, but one would not be found. Real Jersey FC settled for a 1-1 draw against Nationals Union Black of Michigan, coming away with one point. Real Jersey FC will play La Roca FC of Utah in its final game of group play.

15UG: Real Jersey FC

The standings grew clearer on Wednesday, as Real Jersey FC stepped toward a spot in the semifinals with a win against Cincinnati United. Real Jersey FC registered a goal in the early stages of this match. The 15U Girls went into the break, 1-0, as Real Jersey FC used its stout and playmaking defense to maintain its lead. Real Jersey FC then followed up with another goal to secure a 2-0 shutout victory. Currently sitting with four points, tied for first place in their division, Real Jersey FC will battle it out tomorrow with Solar Soccer Club of Texas for the top spot in the 15U Girls Group B division.

17UB Real Jersey FC

Real Jersey FC squared off against United PDX Premier Black of Oregon in the second day of group play action at the US Youth Soccer National Championships. Real Jersey FC started out a goal behind in the early stages, but heading into halftime, the score was tied 1-1. It would not stay that way for long, as Real Jersey FC came out swinging in the second half to earn most of the scoring chances. Real Jersey FC scored early in the second half, making it two unanswered goals and an eventual 2-1 victory. However, Real Jersey FC still has work to do on Thursday to guarantee it finishes at the top of the group when they play Sparta United of Utah, which has three points in two games.

These round robin matches see more than 100 boys’ and girls’ teams from 32 state associations contend for a national title. Thursday’s action will ultimately decide which teams will be moving on to the semifinal round to compete for the national title.

Wayne SC Dynamite Academy 14U Girls will have their final match of group play on Thursday live streamed at 8 a.m. Other New Jersey teams with matches streaming on Thursday include Real New Jersey FC 17U Boys at 12 p.m.

The USYS National Championships cap a yearlong series of competitions that challenges all to play against teams of similar skill level for a national title. The Regional Champions in the 13U through 19/20U age groups, along with the National League representatives in the 14U-19/20U age groups, meet at the National Championships to compete for the most prestigious national title in youth soccer. The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series which provides approximately 185,000 players on 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation.
