NJYS Presidents Cup Teams Advance to Finals

The New Jersey Youth Soccer Presidents Cup recently completed its group play and quarterfinal phase with teams inching closer to a State Cup title. Teams have been competing in a structured group play and single elimination format taking place across all of New Jersey to battle for their spot in the championship match.

The NJ Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Finals will see teams crowned as state champions, allowing teams to book their place in US Youth Soccer East Region Presidents Cup next month.

Congratulations to all teams who have competed, and those who continue their battle for the top distinction.

A look back at the action in the NJYS Presidents Cup…

11U GIRLS

In the 11U Girls Presidents Cup bracket, Ocean Rebels Red took on NLSA 2010 looking to book a spot in the State Cup Finals. Bette Kane and Jayce Clayton each had goals, giving Ocean Rebels Red a 2-0 halftime lead. Bette Kane's second half goal secured a 3-0 win for Ocean Rebels Red place to the NJYS Presidents Cup Final.

15U BOYS

The U15 Clifton Stallions Turf Boys recently won a nail-biting 5-4 overtime win against the Lions.  While securing that win in the quarter finals, the Turf Boys will be heading into the semi-finals.

17U BOYS

Kearny Thistle United Eusebio 04 notched a 4-1 win over Futbol Total Academy 04 in the quarterfinals, thanks to a brace from Alan Antoneli and a pair of goals from Alex Clavijo and Juan Rojas, respectively.

On the other end of the quarterfinals, Bulldogs SC 2004B Red took on the Toms River Gunners, with a late overtime winner from Jake Southwell of Bulldogs SC.

“The boys really know how to give the parents, and the coaching staff a heart attack,” a member of the Bulldogs SC coaching staff laughed. “It was a hard-fought game by both sides, and now the boys have an opportunity to get into the finals.”

ABOUT THE PRESIDENTS CUP

The Presidents Cup provides additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a national title. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.
