NJYS State Cups Open with More than 1,000 Participating Teams

New Jersey Youth Soccer has released the brackets for its Spring NJYS State Cups that will host more than 1,000 member teams throughout the state, demonstrating an increase from the previous seasons and a strong return after a yearlong hiatus due to COVID-19.

“We are honored for the opportunity to support more than 10,000 players and coaches preparing for our statewide competitions,” stated Evan Dabby, NJYS Executive Director. “We take this responsibility with earnest and strive to make it a memorable and quality experience.”

Competition preparation involved a host of stakeholders. The NJYS State Cups Advisory Board, which includes Board Meetings, League and Club representatives and the State Youth Referee Administrator, was actively involved in strategic planning. NJYS State Office staff, including Ryan Foley, Lorie Hynes and Nicole Petras, worked diligently to coordinate with team applicants and complete their registrations. They also worked extensively with Sports Connect, the Exclusive Technology Provider of NJ Youth Soccer, to manage the game scheduling and team flighting. Additionally, NJYS student intern Jack Zimmerman from the University of Delaware and Rutgers University student volunteers Adetayo Ebo and Austin Lloyd were vital contributors to organizing data from the more than 1,000 team registrants.

The NJYS State Cups provide pathways to be crowned champions of the state, region and nation. With the National Championship Series, Presidents Cup and Challenge Cup tournaments, every participating team has the ability to vie for the title of “State Champion.”

The National Championship Series is the country’s most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing winners from each state the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.

The Presidents Cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community.

The Challenge Cup, previously called the Commissioners Cup, is the NJYS State Cup designed to create a challenging and enjoyable event for teams outside of the National Championship Series and Presidents Cup.
