NJYS Legends Series Ep. 10: Giuseppe Rossi

New Jersey Youth Soccer has launched an NJYS Legends Video Series, where New Jersey ODP Technical Director James Galanis hosts online conversations with current and former professional players from the State of New Jersey. The conversations feature various topics that are relative to each guest, from sharing their best at-home training methods to reflecting back upon playing in New Jersey ODP and other NJYS programming.

In this conversation, Galanis speaks with Giuseppe Rossi, a New Jersey native who capped 30 times with Italy and currently plays with Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer.

Prior to joining Real Salt Lake, Rossi played for Manchester United and Newcastle United in England; Parma, Fiorentina and Genoa in Italy; and Villarreal, Levante and Celta Vigo in Spain. He scored 128 goals in 336 matches across all competitions in the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga.

Rossi led Italy to the Quarterfinal Round of the 2008 Olympics, scoring four goals in four matches to win the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer. He enjoyed a six-year career at the senior level with Italy, playing his final match on the international stage in 2014.
