NJYS Legends Series Ep. 9: Glenn Crooks

New Jersey Youth Soccer has launched an NJYS Legends Video Series, where New Jersey ODP Technical Director James Galanis hosts online conversations with current and former professional players from the State of New Jersey. The conversations feature various topics that are relative to each guest, from sharing their best at-home training methods to reflecting back upon playing in New Jersey ODP and other NJYS programming.

In this conversation, Galanis speaks with Glenn Crooks, a NJYS Hall of Famer who was highly successful as a coach with the NJYS Olympic Development Program (ODP) and at the collegiate level. Crooks directed six teams to ODP Regional Championships and three teams to ODP National Championships. After coaching at St. Peter’s University and Long Island University of Brooklyn, he took over the Rutgers University Women’s Soccer Program in 2000 and enjoyed a 13-year tenure with the Scarlet Knights. Among the players he coached at Rutgers is two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time FIFA Women’s Player of the Year Carli Lloyd, who is also an Ambassador for NJ Youth Soccer.

Crooks currently serves as the host of The Coaching Academy on SiriusXM FC, as a Color Analyst for the BIG Ten Network and as the play-by-play radio voice for New York City FC of Major League Soccer.
