Young Olympians Registration Opens

NEW JERSEY - The NJ Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) will begin programming for its Young Olympians program (birth years 2008 and 2009) starting in July and August.

The Young Olympians Program, designed specifically for players born in 2008 and 2009, is an introductory stage for players who aspire to play at a high level and provides a path to participate in ODP. Players' abilities will be assessed and the sessions will be segmented so that players are training with others of like ability. Sessions are hosted in three regions (south, shore/central and north) to facilitate participation throughout the state.

While the programs are customized for each age group, the Young Olympians Programs include three training sessions, a training camp and a festival featuring small-sided games. Pre-registration is required, and the cost is $150. To ensure a proper training environment, registration for each Young Olympians (2008 and 2009) group will be limited to forty (40) players on a first come, first served basis. If demand exceeds capacity, NJ Youth Soccer will create a waiting list and seek solutions for those individuals desiring to participate.

These programs will be run with support from Sky Blue FC, the New York Red Bulls, and the Philadelphia Union. Over the last two years, NJ Youth Soccer has worked closely with Sky Blue FC across its girls programs and the New York Red Bulls for its boys programs. Since partnering with the Red Bulls in 2014, the Young Olympians Program has also identified players for the Red Bulls' Academy. Last year was the first year collaborating with the Philadelphia Union in the south location.

"We are very excited to continue our partnership with Sky Blue FC, the New York Red Bulls and the Philadelphia Union," said James Galanis, NJYS ODP Technical Director. "These partnerships help ensure our programs will continue to grow and thrive for these young players."
