The following is a list of US Youth Soccer Recommended Definitions of Teams that you may find used on a Tournament's Permission to Host Agreement.  Since these definitions may be used by all of the member State Associations in US Youth Soccer, the definitions vary in meaning. 

The US Youth Soccer definitions have been augmented to show those team types that are recognized by NJYS.  In addition, some of the definitions have been augmented to reflect NJYS policies.  These differences are shown in red.

Definition

A No

Intra-Club Tournament Team: A team that is put together for the sole purpose of playing in a tournament or other sanctioned non-league competition, whose roster includes only players who are members of one club.  NJYS does not recognize Tournament Teams.

B No

Inter-Club Tournament Team: A team that is put together for the sole purpose of playing in a tournament or other sanctioned non-league competition, whose roster includes players who are members of more than one club.  NJYS does not recognize Tournament Teams.

C Yes

Recreational Team: A team which participates in a Recreational League or an in-house program

D No

Recreational Plus Team: A team which participates in a Recreational Plus League.

E Yes

Recreational All-Star Team: An Intra-Club Tournament Team whose roster only includes players selected from teams that participate in the same Recreational and Recreational Plus League or Program.  NJYS does not have any restrictions on the formation of recreation level teams.

F   Classic Team: A team that participates in a Classic League.  NJYS does not classify its member leagues in terms of classic, premier, etc.
G Yes

League Team: A team that participates in regularly scheduled league play.

H   Premier Team: A team that participates in a Premier League.
 
I Yes

Select Team: The official select Team of US Youth Soccer, any of its Regions, State Association, or league.  Note: Clubs cannot have select teams under this definition.

J Yes

Attached Description of a team if it does not fit any of the above definitions.
