Open Tryouts for the 2011-2012 Initial Pool

o The NJYS ODP Program begins with the selection of an initial pool (group) of players for each age group.  The age groups for the 2011-2012 ODP program are players, both boys and girls, born in 1995 (U17), 1996 (U16), 1997 (U15), 1998 (U14), and 1999 (U13).  During the late Spring of 2012, NJYS will also have a program for players born in 2000 (U12).  The ODP program uses the calendar year to define its age groups, not the August 1 year used within our travel leagues.

o The open tryout for the Initial Pools for all age groups, both boys and girls, will be held on July 30, 31 and August 6, 7.  Players must participate in their birth year only - positively no playing up.  Players selected for the initial pool will be invited to a closed tryout during which the Final Pool of players will be selected.  This tryout will be held during the last week of March and first weeks of April.  Players will be contacted with details.

o NJYS is using an online registration system to register for these Initial Pool Open Tryouts.  Players should register before attending the tryouts.  NJYS will use the email address that you provide in this registration process for most communications with the player and their family.  Please make sure you enter a valid email address and include 'njyouthsoccer.com' in your address list so our mail is not rejected by your internet provider.  You are responsible for keeping your email address valid.

o Specific times and locations for the tryouts, by age groups, are provided in the table below.  Players are requested to check in 30 minutes before the start of their tryout.

o Every player must attend at least one tryout but is encouraged to attend all four tryout sessions.  Players will be evaluated on their performance at all the tryout sessions that they attend.  Players will not be given a waiver for injury or illness.  A player who cannot attend at least one of the tryouts is ineligible for the ODP program for the rest of the year.

o The Initial Pool for each age group will consist of about 30-40 players.  However, players who were selected for the 2010-2011 Region I Pools are not required to tryout for the Initial Pools and will advance automatically to the Final Pool tryout.  The tryout numbers of players selected for the Initial Pool will be posted on this website on September 19, 2011.  Players selected for the Initial Pool will be given directions to download a package of forms that must be completed and returned to the NJYS Office by the specified due date.  Players who do not return the required information may be dropped from the Initial Pool. 

o From September 2011 through March 2012, events may be scheduled for specific age groups.  Players will be contacted individually if an event is scheduled for their initial pool.  Tryouts for the Final Pool will be held in late March 2011 and early April 2011.  Every player in the Initial Pool will receive an email message during March 2011 specifying the location and times of the Final Pool tryouts.
