NJ Youth Soccer Hosts ODP Intro Night

East Windsor, N.J. (Nov. 11, 2019) ― New Jersey Youth Soccer recently hosted its first-ever ODP Intro Night, where more than 300 players and parents were welcomed into New Jersey ODP and presented with details about the program.

"The goal of this inaugural event was to get everyone on the same page to ensure a smooth year for the upcoming ODP season," said James Galanis, New Jersey ODP Technical Director.

At the event, Galanis outlined goals and expectations while also providing staff assignments, administration procedures and the 2020 curriculum. NJYS President Evelyn Gill emphasized the opportunity being afforded to players, as well as the responsibility of parents to set a good example. Also on hand for the presentation was NJYS First Vice President Wayne Cordiner, who serves as the NJYS Liaison to the Board of Directors. Additionally, NJYS Executive Director Evan Dabby and ODP Coordinator Erika Salter fielded questions from the players and parents in attendance.

This session concluded with a video message from NJYS Ambassador and New Jersey ODP alumna Carli Lloyd. The two-time FIFA Player of the Year spoke about how representing her state through ODP helped kickstart her dream of playing for the U.S. Women's National Team.

"After a successful tryout process, we are excited for this year," Galanis said after the event. "Our teams are stacked with talented and ambitious soccer players. My staff and I are looking forward to kicking off the ODP season."
