NJ Youth Soccer Adds ICYSL and SYSL as Official Member Recreation Leagues

East Windsor, N.J. (Nov. 18, 2019) - New Jersey Youth Soccer announced today that it has accepted InterCounty Youth Soccer League (ICYSL) and Suburban Youth Soccer League (SYSL) as official member Recreation Leagues. This development provides new opportunities for the State Association and member Recreation Leagues to enhance grassroots programming.

"NJ Youth Soccer and our staff is committed to providing exceptional customer service and leverage our member benefits to help these leagues grow," said Evelyn Gill, NJYS President. "As member Recreation Leagues, ICYSL and SYSL will receive website presence on njyouthsoccer.com, support from state association staff, access to coach education resources, offers from NJYS partners and more."

In recent months, ICYSL has hosted a State Certificate coaching course, and SYSL will be hosting a festival with NJ Youth Soccer offering promotional support and engaging its partners such as JAG-ONE Physical Therapy and Sky Blue FC.

"ICYSL is a great example of how recreation soccer creates a fun environment for the kids to enjoy the game," said Rohit Simeon, ICYSL President. "We are excited to grow our partnership with NJ Youth Soccer in a way that will enhance opportunities for our coaches, parents and players. Specifically, we will continue partnering with NJ Your Soccer to host State Certificate coaching courses and promote the Safe Sport Course and Concussion Certification to ensure the safety and well-being of the players."

SYSL NJ Commissioner John Dilts also shared his excitement regarding today's announcement.

"SYSL NJ and our members are thrilled with our NJ Youth Soccer partnership as we continue to develop, promote and serve the youth soccer interest for New Jersey," he stated.

InterCounty Youth Soccer League (ICYSL) is a great example of how recreation soccer creates a fun environment for the kids to enjoy the game. ICYSL is a not-for-profit, recreational soccer program with roughly 200 teams in divisions from U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18. The league is a federation of town soccer clubs based in Middlesex, Somerset, Union, Essex and some clubs for Monmouth County. Membership is limited to Central New Jersey to reduce the travel required for games. ICYSL was founded as a way to allow children to continue to play soccer when there were not enough players within individual towns to form viable programs. ICYSL gives kids that don't want to or can't play travel soccer the opportunity to play against teams from other towns and experience the true tournament atmosphere.

Suburban Youth Soccer League NJ (SYSLNJ) was founded to provide a competitive, recreational soccer environment for member clubs and organizations and their constituents to develop, promote, and serve the soccer interests of their youth members (under the age of 19) through healthy amateur competition and educational programs. SYSL is comprised of member clubs from the suburban New Jersey footprint of Union, Middlesex, Essex, and Somerset counties, providing a supportive structure to foster development and recreation without abandoning the thrill of competition and thus provides a home for players at every skill level.
