New Jersey Youth Soccer Paul Hausser Memorial Scholarship |
|
For nearly four decades, Paul Hausser served as mentor and coach, teacher and administrator to students of Newark College of Engineering and New Jersey Institute of Technology. He was inducted into the NJIT Athletics Hall of Fame in 1990 and retired with professor emeritus status in 1991. While Paul's athletic activities at NJIT were directed at fencing, Paul was an avid lover of soccer and volunteered many hours during the 1994 Men's World Cup and with the MetroStars of the Major Indoor Soccer league. At his death in 2000, the Hausser Family and the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association established the Paul Hausser Memorial Scholarship Fund which awards scholarships to deserving high school seniors who intend to go on to college and pursue a career in education.
As part of the Paul Hausser Memorial Fund, New Jersey Youth Soccer will award up to two $500 scholarships each year. Applications are invited from high school seniors who intend to go to college and pursue a career in education. Candidates who have played for an affiliated New Jersey Youth Soccer club may apply for a scholarship from the Paul Hausser Memorial Scholarship Fund.
To be considered for a scholarship during the 2007-2008 year, an application form must be completed in its entirety and submitted to the NJYS Office by December 10, 2007 with the required supporting documentation. The Scholarship awards are presented at the New Jersey Youth Soccer Annual Awards Dinner that will be held on January 4, 2008.
